The vision of our Founder Chancellor Padmashree Dr.D.Y.Patil has always been to make quality education and caring health care available to all, especially to the poor and needy, and to the deprived and downtrodden.

Throughout his continuing mission of establishing hundreds of educational and health care institutions, over the last two decades, he has ensured these reputed qualities by striving for all round excellence.

We shall take this patriotic spirit forward by total commitment to develop excellence in every aspect of our university- super specialties, research and development, teaching methodology, corporate culture and several other areas.

By placing the emphasis on the development of super specialties in medical education in cardiac surgery, cardiology urology nephrology, plastic surgery, neuro surgery, paediatric surgery, neonatology and other specialties- we enhance the general level of standards in all our delivery models, in all our services.

While the Department of Cardiac surgery and Cardiology has already conducted more than a dozen by pass surgeries and a wide variety of procedures including corrections of birth defects and tumors of the heart with hundred percent success rate, so have every other department with significant performances of their own- many of them detailed in our regular news letter. Angiography and angioplasties by cardiology department, joint replacements in orthopedics, Hair transplants by plastic surgery department have continued the journey to excellence in teaching and service areas of health care. 

A natural corollary of this emphasis on development of super specialties is the nurturing of a research culture.  Padmashree Dr.D.Y.Patil University already has a constituent unit, the institute for Biotechnology & Bioinformatics in the cutting edge of technology playing a key role in a variety of research and development set-ups.   Institute of Management admits many students for Ph.D & M.Phill programmes, Institute of Physiotherapy, college of Ayurveda, catering technology and Teachers Education are striving to develop master’s level programme including college of caring sciences in nursing. Dental college continues to excell in various master level programmes in different levels of dentistry.

We should take this momentum forward into teaching methodologies like semester systems and continuous internal assessment and innovative methods of teaching, addressing contemporary global requirements and aspirations.  Being part of an Indian generation which is bound to benefit from a demographic dividend brings with it global responsibilities of developing skill sets of tomorrow.
